Therapy should help you understand why your mind and body react the way they do—and give you a path toward lasting change, not just temporary relief.
Break free and understand the experiences that shaped you, process what continues to keep you stuck, and build a life that is no longer controlled by anxiety, trauma, or depression.
I help adults and first responders who feel trapped by anxiety, depression, or traumatic experiences finally understand why they think, react, and cope the way they do.
Calm Minds, Warm Hearts, Lasting Peace

You know your reactions don’t make sense. You’ve read the books and you recognize your patterns. You overthink, shut down, stay on high alert, or keep replaying what happened. Insight alone hasn’t changed those reactions and you’re still finding yourself stuck in the same patterns. I help adults in Suffolk and across Virginia who understand their patterns, but can’t change them on their own.

My work is deeply personal.

I bring professional training and lived experience in navigating:

  • Anxious thoughts and feelings of overwhelm
  • Depression, social withdrawal and emotional detachment
  • Intrusive memories, avoidance, and triggered distress

Many of my clients come in saying:

  • “What if something goes wrong?”
  • “I don’t even recognize myself anymore.”
  • “ I avoid anything that reminds me of what happened.”

And through this work, they leave feeling clear-minded, empowered, and grounded.

Using EMDR therapy alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches, I help clients understand why those patterns exist and process the experiences that continue to keep them stuck.

Therapy with me focuses on understanding why those patterns developed in the first place and helping the brain process experiences that continue to affect everyday life. The goal isn’t simply feeling better for a week—it’s creating lasting change in how you think, feel, and respond.

If that’s what you’ve been looking for, you’re in the right place.

Frequently asked questions

(01) What is an LPC, and how can they help me?
A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is a master's or doctoral level mental health professional trained to independently assess, diagnose, and treat emotional, behavioral, and mental health disorders. Through regular sessions, your LPC helps you build self awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, and work through challenges like anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or major life transitions, all in a confidential, supportive space.
(02) What if we don't feel a connection with my therapist?
The relationship between you and your LPC plays a major role in how effective therapy is, so it's completely normal to want the right fit. If you don't feel a connection after your first few sessions, let us know. We're happy to talk through what's not working or help match you with another LPC on our team whose approach and specialties better suit your needs.
(03) What should we expect in my first session?
Your first session is mostly about your LPC getting to know you. They'll ask about your history, current concerns, and what you're hoping to get out of counseling. This allows them to accurately assess your needs and begin building a treatment plan tailored to you. There's no pressure to share everything at once, the pace is always yours to set.
(04) Will therapy be covered by my insurance?
Many insurance plans include mental health benefits that cover sessions with a Licensed Professional Counselor. Coverage varies by provider and plan, so we recommend checking your specific benefits or reaching out to our office. We're glad to help you verify coverage and walk through self pay options if needed.
(05) How long does therapy usually take?
There's no single timeline that fits everyone. Some clients find what they need in a few short term sessions focused on a specific concern, while others benefit from ongoing, longer term support. Your LPC will work with you to set clear goals and regularly revisit your progress, so treatment length stays aligned with what you actually need.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
