About Me

About Me

I help adults and first responders who feel stuck in patterns they can't seem to break—even when they understand exactly what's happening. If you're ready for therapy that goes beyond learning another coping skill, I'd love to help.

I’m Karen P. Ware, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and the lasting effects of difficult life experiences. I also have a special interest in working with first responders, recognizing the unique stressors that come with careers built around protecting and serving others.
Many of my clients arrive feeling frustrated because they already recognize their patterns. They know they overthink, shut down, stay on high alert, or keep replaying what happened—but insight alone hasn't changed those reactions.

I’m Karen P. Ware, LPC

My work goes beyond teaching coping skills. Using EMDR therapy alongside Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches, I help clients understand why those patterns exist and process the experiences that continue to keep them stuck.

My approach is straightforward, practical, and grounded in genuine conversation. Sessions are designed to help clients leave feeling anchored and with a clearer understanding of themselves while building lasting emotional flexibility—not just temporary symptom relief.

I offer both in-person therapy in Suffolk, Virginia, and telehealth therapy throughout Virginia.
